I knew both Sylar and Claire back when they were in a relationship and have invested time and concern for them both. However, I won't defend the boy when he come to cross the line -as a serial killers without much remorse are wont to do.
It would seem Sylar's ability is in fact to absorb powers and abilities. Near limitless regeneration, impressive telekinesis, ability to form electricity and ice, and as I believe Claire mentioned, shapeshifting. I have not witnessed that one myself, though. It is possible he has collected more.
