This has not been my best week ever. First I find out that I've got about ten years before I betray my ideals, and now... well, my vacation offworld wasn't as relaxing as I'd hoped it would be.

Not to mention that, for about twenty-four hours, I thought I'd finally found what I came to Desai looking for... only to have it vanish again.

I'm sorry to drag you into this... but is there a way to stop a sorceror from summoning demons, short of killing them?

This is, uh, not a theoretical inquiry.

I don't think the future is guaranteed like that.

Sorry, that was random.

Yeah, I can definitely relate to that part. But I'm still not going to let it happen.

Contrary to popular opinion, looking into the future is rarely pleasant. It's better left to those who know what to do with it.

I didn't say you did. At least now you don't have to wonder if it would be something you would like to pursue.

Now why on EARTH were you trying to tell the future?

People running around telling you what you're going to do with your life? Doesn't sound healthy, kid.

Same filter.

Welcome back boy, I'm glad to see you're still in one piece.

A way to stop a sorceror from summoning demons, short of killing them? Well, suppose that depends on the sorcerer in question. Tell me the details and I will do what I can to help. After all, that sort of work is what I do.

I see. I'll see what I can do then. It would depend on the person. If a man pays a high enough toll he is unlikely to sway from his chosen road even if forcibly removed or convinced of his ill choice. After all, he will be forced to pay the price regardless if he gets to his original goal or not.

It might be possible to make sure he cannot repeat his mistakes before turning him over to the authorities. We shall see.

What is required to summon a demon depends,a s so much other things in life, entirely on what it is you ask for. If you're timing is right and your knowledge enough, to knock on a peasant's door and convince him to heed your call may not require many things. However, in order to lure a prince to your table and have him lend you his servants is another matter entirely.

Thanks. Good to be back, for the most part.

The job went very well considering the surprising addition of your above-average skill. Until the complication at the end, I found the trip to be very cathartic. I suppose I could thank you for your competence.

Sparda's solution would have to be something you can live with. For myself, the detour was merely an inconvenience, not a moral dilemma. It doesn't matter to me what happens to him.

If you would ever consider changing your mind, the employer was impressed with our efficacy. Just think about how many innocent human lives could be spared by your contribution.
